What is Anaerobic Digestion ?

Anaerobic digestion is a natural process of organic matter decay (kitchen waste, etc.) via bacteria. In the absence of oxygen, this reaction produces a biogas (methane and carbon dioxide) and a residue called digestate which can be recovered as compost for agriculture. This biogas can then be recovered (as electricity, heat, fuel).
